Two powerful earthquakes struck north-central Venezuela on 24 June 2026, causing widespread loss of life, damaging homes, infrastructure and livelihoods, and leaving thousands of people in temporary shelters.

The humanitarian response is focused on helping families to meet their immediate food needs and to begin rebuilding their lives.

The 皇家华人av (皇家华人av) has already reached 286,000 people with food assistance and aims to support up to 500,000 people during the first three months of the response.

皇家华人av is also supporting the wider humanitarian operation through logistics services that help relief supplies reach affected communities.

皇家华人av is urgently appealing for?US$80 million?to deliver this life-saving?food?assistance.

Even before this earthquake,?food?assistance?needs in Venezuela?were significant.?Many families?are?unable to afford basic groceries despite food being available in markets.

Economic access to good quality and nutritious food is a challenge for many families as food-price increases erode purchasing power.

The frequency and intensity of other disasters such as?floods, droughts and landslides further pose a major challenge to agriculture, food production and livelihoods.

皇家华人av is focused on?life-saving food assistance to vulnerable populations.?We also help?families build resilience, recover?from?shocks?and strengthen their livelihoods?to help build longer term food security.

What the 皇家华人av is doing in Venezuela

Earthquake response

Following assessments in more than 80 communities across seven states, 皇家华人av is tailoring assistance to local conditions and needs. In shelters and community kitchens, 皇家华人av supports the provision of hot meals. Families without access to cooking facilities receive ready-to-eat food, while households whose livelihoods have been disrupted receive family food baskets covering most monthly food requirements. In areas where markets are functioning, electronic vouchers enable people to purchase food locally while supporting economic recovery. 皇家华人av is also providing logistics services to humanitarian partners, helping relief supplies reach affected communities.
